2019 – 2020

President – Carol Gorton

What a year – Droughts,Fires, Floods with no follow up rain and now a Pandemic!

Some achievements of the year:-

  • Partnering with Variety to raise $44,000 in six months for the purchase of a wheelchair modified car for Izaac Barsah. Hopefully to be handed over by June (COVID delay). A special thanks to the Mt Morgan and Yeppoon Clubs who each gave $500 and the Gorton/Baldwin families who started us off with $1000 on changeover night.
  • Trivia Night raised $3000 towards Izaac’s car – thanks Pages
  • The Great Ocean Walk scoping study has been finalised & ready to launch ($20,000). Copies to be presented to Federal & State M.P’s f a full presentation to an LSC meeting scheduled in August.
  • During the year, donations were made to Malaria, Umoja Orphanage & Polio
  • Many of our members continue to sew for Days for Girls.
  • We managed 2 Bunnings sausage sizzles before COVID spoilt the party
  • RCoCC partneredwith Yeppoon Club to purchase a Replas Bench Seat in memory of Rotarian Nea Stewart-Dore. We are lobbying LSC to have the Liberty Swing at Emu Park moved to a more suitable location with other playground equipment.
  • Our club successfully applied for funding for projects at Rotary Club of Capricorn Coast- Recreational Precinct – Emily Morgan Park. They were:- Signs, Yarning Circle, Installation of a covered BBQ & painting of the Ablution Block. Ten trees have been planted to shade the Yarning Circle. We have also applied for Aurzon funding ($19,750) to develop an indigenous interactive Nature Walk in the park
  • We obtained $17,800 From the Scanlon Foundation to have a VolunteerTutoring in Literacy Supporting Secondary School Student’s program accredited.
  • A major fundraiser was catering for the CQU  Village Festival RedFoot cabaret
  • Co-sponsored RYLA & NYSF  applicants with Mt Morgan Rotary Club

  • Assisting Alan Titman & working Yeppoon Lions to give aid to local bushfire victims
  • Successfully changed our constitution to accept Associate members

As you can see , despite all of the hiccups our clubs has been very active.

  • Sponsored 2 students to participate in the district Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
  • Partnered with Mt Morgan Rotary Club to sponsored a student in the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra
  • Donation to Jacks Paddock park for Foundation Trees
  • Funding for concept plans for Great Ocean Walk of Capricorn Coast
  • Concept and design planning for Rotary’s Mulambin Beach Park supported the Livingstone Shire Council
  • Supported Umoja Orphanage, Kenya
  • Supported the Yeppoon High School Are U Okay
  • Contributed to Rotary’s malaria eradication project to support vaccine research
  • Contributed to Rotary Foundation world wide polio eradication

2017-18

President – Greg Wilson

  • Sponsored a participant in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
  • Sponsored 2 students to participate in the district Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
  • Partnered with Mt Morgan Rotary Club to sponsored a student in the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra
  • In conjunction with Yeppoon Club, held the first Rotary Youth Driver Awareness Training Program for Yeppoon High School
  • Donated hand-made toys to the Children’s Hospital
  • Prepared a Display for Talisman Sabre
  • Supported Umoja Orphanage, in Kenya
  • Assembled a hand for Land Mine Victims in Cambodia
  • Supported the Yeppoon High School Are U Okay
  • Assisted Lions stage the Festival of the Wind

2016 -17

President – Neil McDonnell

  • Rotary Club of Capricorn Coast chartered with 20 members
  • Great Ocean Walk Project announced with the Club’s vision of developing a walkway linking Coorooman Creek in the south of the region, to Corio Bay in the north
  • Commenced negotiations with the Livingstone Shire Council to identify gaps in the Capricorn Coast Great Ocean Walk including commissioned Active Urban Landscape designers to complete concept plans for all missing links
  • Supported Umoja Orphanage, in Kenya
  • Assembled a hand for Land Mine Victims in Cambodia
  • Worked with the Yeppoon State High School to supply Buddy benches
